For generations the van der Hagen Family tended to their dairy farm in Lith, Holland. They owned a windmill, which they used to process neighbors. grains, as well as their own.
The family was renowned for their entrepreneurial spirit and work ethic. This same spirit emboldened Bernardus van der Hagen to move his wife and eleven children to America in 1905 to try his luck in the land of opportunity.
